Board Development
The
Trey Whitfield School, an educationally powerful private school
in Brooklyn serving a minority population, had a small but dedicated
Board of Directors. The organization was facing significant challenges,
including the prospect of having to obtain and finance a new facility.
The Board ,recognized that it needed to recruit new members who
could provide the leadership and access to resources that these
new challenges required. Through meetings with each Board member
I was able to develop a template for Board Governance that described
the tasks that the board would need to accomplish, the objectives
for each committee and a description of the characteristics that
they would be seeking in new board members. I was also able to propose
some potential candidates.
