Interim Management

In the wake of the September 11 attacks, The Arab-American Family Support Center was overwhelmed with responding to the needs of the Arab-American community, interest on the part of other groups and organizations in reaching out to the community, and media interest in the community.

"Michael's pragmatic problem solving ability helped us to make the organizational changes needed in the wake of the September 11 attacks-expanding our fund raising, recruiting staff and developing new programs. Michael is an invaluable and trusted partner."

Emira Habiby Browne, Executive Director, The Arab-American Family Support Center

Infoneighbor.com is an affinity-buying program that provides nonprofit organizations with donations of a percentage of the money spent by their supporters in participating neighborhood businesses.

I was asked to serve on an interim basis to direct the startup phase of the marketing to local organizations and merchants, train and supervise the staff, and develop a marketing system that the staff would manage.

"Michael was an essential part of the Infoneighbor management team and it is not too much to say that the Community Outreach area could not have made nearly the progress it did in this short amount of time without Michael. Non-profit organizations are sometimes resistant to new ideas, and it was only because of Michael's significant experience and broad network in the New York non-profit community that Infoneighbor was able to sign up over 25 organizations representing tens of thousands of West Siders in just a few months. Additionally, Michael's ease in dealing with individuals kept a diverse team focused on their goal even as they encountered significant obstacles in achieving their goals. Perhaps most significantly, Michael differentiated himself from other consultants in that he was not interested in keeping himself employed infinitely, but rather interested in developing and putting systems into place that worked, and then teaching those in the organization to continue on their own. This is a rare trait in consultants whose importance should not be underestimated! "

Sebastian Cwilitch, President, Infoneighbor.com
