Management Support
The
Executive Director of Future Possibilities was resigning
as manager, continuing as Chairman of the Board. To help effect
this transition, I was asked to serve as an advisor to the new Executive
Director whose prior experience had been in the corporate sector.
We had weekly telephone conferences, reviewed planning documents
by e-mail, and had occasional meetings with the Chairman of the
Board. Topics included preparation for Board meetings, office systems,
staff resource allocation, personnel decisions, and strategic planning.

Through changes in Board membership, the founding Executive Director
of the Arab American Family Support Center found herself
with a board that was not supportive of the agency's mission and
her leadership. Through legal intervention and negotiation, the
board agreed to resign. An interim Board was appointed and I am
now working with them to develop a Governance plan and recruit and
orient board members who will support the organization's growth.
