As Deputy Director of Common Cents, in addition to administrative, supervisory and school recruitment responsibilities, I planned and executed the annual Penny Harvest. With a staff of 10 VISTA volunteers I managed equipping and training of over 500 participating schools, including obtaining and distributing over 15,000 canvas penny sacks, 500 sets of school training materials, and training seminars in 20 school districts.

After the six week "harvest" we managed collection of sacks of pennies from hundreds of schools and a day long event where hundreds of students and volunteers sorted over 100 tons of coin.

I was also responsible for supporting Student grant making Roundtables deciding how to use the more than $400,000 that was collected. This included leading a training conference for 200 teachers and supervising VISTA volunteers working with the individual Roundtables.
