Board Development
Our organization has a Board, why would we need to change it?
It is important to periodically asses the effectiveness of the
Board in providing the financial support, oversight, and guidance
needed to enable the organization to achieve its mission. The Board
must be able to adapt as the needs of the organization change.
How can the Board be strengthened?
There are a number of activities that can be undertaken, depending
on the needs of the organization, including:
- Creation of a Governance plan which describes the Boards operational
procedures and the tasks of the committees.
- Board recruitment which would include an assessment of the specific
skills and resources needed on the Board and implementation of
a recruitment strategy to fill those needs.
- Training to help the Board improve its functioning and support
of the organization.
