Executive Director Evaluation

Providing the Executive Director with an annual evaluation is a board responsibility that is unfortunately often ignored.  It is an opportunity that, if well structured, can be extremely valuable to the Executive Director and to the working relationship of the Board and Executive Director.  It provides an opportunity to clarify organizational priorities and to define mutual expectations.

My process includes:

  • Working with a Board Task Force and the Executive Director to outline the process and to design the questions to be asked in board and staff surveys
  • Administering anonymous online surveys to board and staff
  • Preparing summaries of the survey results
  • Coaching for the Executive Director in developing a self assessment of accomplishments, goals and areas of needed improvement
  • Coaching for the Board Task Force in preparing for its review meeting with the Executive Director
  • Assisting in the development of a report to the board
