Strategic Planning

My approach to strategic planning is founded on two principles:

  • A strategic plan is only as good as the organizational commitment to its implementation.
  • Board involvement in all phases of the planning process, including interviews with key stakeholders, will build board support and commitment to the plan and its implementation.

The planning process is an opportunity for the organization to evaluate its strengths, its opportunities and its challenges. It is an analysis of where the organization stands in relation to the environment in which it operates, where it would like to stand in the future, and what it needs to achieve that vision.
The strength of every organization derives from the commitment of the many stakeholders who value its mission. Principally the process will involve the Board, the Executive Director and senior staff. Input should also be obtained from other stakeholders including funders, clients, collaborating organizations, supporters.  etc.

My role is to structure, guide and facilitate a process that will enable the organization to reach consensus on a realistic strategy for the future and to prepare a detailed working plan and timeline for the process.
