The Board Governance Committee: Who's Minding the Store?

The standing and ad hoc committees of the board are fully engaged with the oversight, leadership and management responsibilities; managing finances, raising funds, setting strategic directions, program evaluation, etc. Too frequently, little time is left to the board's responsibility for its own continuity and proper functioning. It is the role of the Governance Committee to assure that board recruitment is strategic and thoughtful, integrate new members onto the board, assess board and board member performance and evaluate the effectiveness of procedures and by laws. This seminar will equip you to make a presentation to your board on the need for a Governance Committee.
